THE DEKLE BIBLE
Mr. Thomas Dekle settled on Olive Creek prior to the creation of
Thomas
County. His first child, born after he arrived in his new home, was named
Irwin in honor of the new county in which he then lived. His second
son,
John W. was born immediately after the creation of Thomas County,
being the
first white child to claim Thomas as his native county.
Thomas Dekle's other children were Ansel, Edward, Isiah, Peter,
Sarah, who
married her cousin, John G. Dekle, Lucina Dekle McKinnon, Mary Dekle,
Milen
and Wealthy Dekle.
Soon after Thomas Dekle located, his brother, William G. and
Leonard Dekle,
established themselves also near Olive Creek.
William G. Dekle became the first sheriff of Thomas County. His
